There are so many great towns/cities in Colorado that have outstanding ski areas or winter activities. Here are my personal favorite. #1... For number one i have to say my hometown Steamboat Springs. The ski mountain is famous for our snow. The snow in Steamboat is called Champagne Powder. It is the lightest, the softest, and the most fun type of snow and you can only find it in the boat. To go along with our stunning snow conditions we have some of the best tree skiing in the world. There are three main peaks in Steamboat. Each are filled with tree runs filled to the brim with powder. Steamboat has much more to offer than just the ski mountain as well. We have snow tubing at Saddleback Moutain Ranch and downtown at Howlsen Hill. The town of Steamboat has plenty to offer too. It is a nice small town with an older look to it. You have tons of local hot spots like the Gondola Pub and Grill and there is plenty of night life at places like the Ghost Ranch Saloon. The Ghost Ranch is themed as an old western bar. Every week they have a night of swing dancing. It's a total blast. So that's why Steamboat Springs is the #1 place to see in the winter time in Colorado. Vail-Winter
At spot number two we have a very famous ski area. Lots of movie stars and all around rich people go there for vacation, yep you guessed it, Vail. The mountain of Vail is the biggest of the state. My favorite part of Vail is by far the back bowls. You literally cant find somewhere that has better bowls than Vail in the U.S. If your just learning how to ski, Vail is a great place to learn. There are tons of greens and easy blues. Now if your an expert skier, Vail would be even more fun for you. Vail is jam packed with expert tree runs and just flat out steepness. I have only been to Vail a couple of times so im not to familiar with the other winter activities there but im sure you could find some. The few times i have been in the town of Vail i have had allot of fun. It's truly a town for stars. The restraunts there are outstanding. Almost all of the restraunts are 3 stars and up and there are so many choices. Any thing you want they have. If you visit Vail you have to spend at least one night on the town. Overall Vail is a great town and deserves the second must see place in Colorado in the winter.

Aspen-Winter
Taking number three is Aspen Colorado. A unique aspect of Aspen is that it has three mountains. One mountain is great for beginners, one for all around skiers and even one for those park junkies. Aspen could have been in number one but there is one big downside to it, the costs. Just like Vail, Aspen is extremely expensive. The food is great the town itself is great to but way to expensive. One sweet thing about Aspen is that the winter Xgames are hosted in Aspen every year. If you go to Aspen at the right time you can ski and check out the Xgames. The Xgames are free by the way. Thats why aspen sweeps third despite the costs.

Cressted Butte-Winter
Rolling into fourth place is Cressted Butte. This mountain is purely for experts. Basically every run is a double black diamond. There are a couple of greens but this not a beginner mountain. Cressted Butte holds the steepest cut tree run in the country, it's called Rambo. Rambo is a great run but cressted butte is famous for the banana peel. This run goes straight down to the bottom and is super steep with trees. One of the best parts of Cressted Butte is the town. Its the classic ski town. Snow is piled up over doors and houses. When you're in the town you just get an amazing vibe. Its old and small so you get the joy that you only get in pure small ski towns. Because of the indescribable vibe you can only find at the Butte and the intensity of the mountain is why i put Cressted Butte as number four.
